Turkey is one of the biggest socks producer and exporter country in the world but the average quantity individually used per year is relatively much lower than Europe or the United States. 60 pairs of socks are used per person annually in Europe whereas this quantity is just 7-8 pairs in Turkey for instance.
There is a big volume of socks production for export within the country and even just the defected socks left from export orders are enough to feed domestic market of Turkey (Turkey has more than 70 million of population by the way). Therefore, socks are relatively much much cheaper in Turkey than Europe or the United States markets.
On the contrary to that, Turkish people do not like to throw away their socks after a few usage and some people are used to repair their defected or old socks:)
